ZAHA HADID

ZAHA HADID

She is one of my favourite architects. Near my house in Korea, there was one building under construction that caught my eye. Recently I found out that it was Zaha Hadid’s project. The building’s name was called “Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park”.

Upon the project, She says ‘A fundamental aim of the scheme is to bring delight and inspiration to the people of Seoul by establishing a cultural hub in the centre of one of the busiest and most historic districts of the city’

There is one famous idiom in Korea that ‘A beacon does not shine on its own base’. I have been unconsciously witnessing Zaha Hadid’s work in my hometown and didn’t even realize it and have been researching for those I have never seen.

During research, I figured out that she did not merely worked as an architect but as a designer as well. She did design a Lacoste boots, a Louis Vuitton handbag made of silicon and tables that looks like an iceberg.

Despite differences in the kind, all of her designs possess the irregular and organic shapes showing her characteristic of Hadid’s spatial designs.
